The Measurement Committee ensures that the boats raced by the competitors are in full compliance with Version 5 of the America’s Cup Class Rule. Boats are measured prior to each regatta (the Louis Vuitton Acts, Louis Vuitton Cup and America’s Cup Match).
Teams may ask the Measurement Committee for both private and public interpretations of the Class Rule to ensure that any design innovations they come up with are in accord with the Class Rule. Generally, all questions result in public interpretations, unless the nature of question is such that by making it public an innovation would be revealed. In that case, the interpretation remains private until the 30th April 2006.
