There are plenty of activities in the North Marina´s ¨Sponsor Village¨ and some of these, like the Santander Blocarts race course, are an excellent chance for all ages to get into the races.
Sailkarts are something like gocarts but they have a sail and are powered by the wind. A Kiwi invention, they are steered with handlebars similar to those of a bicycle and under the perfect conditions they can go up to 50 km/hour. Don´t worry though, there are restrictions that will keep your precious Jack or Jane from flying across the 1200 square meter course. The activity is only open to children younger than 6 if the wind is mild and everyone must be accompanied by a parent. Once the sailing conditions are in their prime, and after being equipped with a helmet and gloves, the pilots are sent on their way.
If it´s a little competition you´re after, 7 karts can use the course at the same time, so you can challenge your friends to a match race of your own. And although the opportunity is unlikely to present itself, the karts can operate in snow and sand.
