Summer has officially arrived when the smell of a well-seasoned grill finally hits your olfactory, and stepping in the door at Pastoret del Mar promises to do the trick. Two massive barbecue grills fill an entire corner of this bright and welcoming eatery in the Port’s South Park.  

 

Manning the flames is Marcos, who moves efficiently from sirloins, to sea bass, to wrinkly, piping hot potatoes, pulling each perfectly blackened piece off the line, still sizzling, for its lucky recipient.  Pastoret del Mar’s excellently priced set menu includes a starter, your choice of meat or seafood, which come with vegetables and chips, a dessert, a drink and a coffee. If you’re looking for a recommendation, the first is the house favorite, the barbecued Octopus; the second is that you make reservations. 

 

And there isn’t a bad seat either. All of the walls are glass, and tables pore out of the restaurants open front onto an expansive patio, ensuring a superb view of the port. People from all walks of life come to get their fix, from families and businessmen meeting for lunch, to couples coming to enjoy a warm summer night at the port.
