These days, as a nod to their name-sake, the Defender bar and restaurant has taken on a Swiss theme, celebrating with a few special additions to the menu and a calendar full of festivities for the remainder of the Cup.

The restaurant now offers a taste of the Alps with Swiss Fondue and specialty meats. And their wine list has a new addition, a bottle from Switzerland’s Vaud region. 

¨We really wanted to showcase the best products of our little country to the world,¨ said Jean, one of the many Swiss wait-staff on hand at the Defender to tell you all about the specialties of their home.

 

They’ve also kicked up the festivities, with everything from live music and dancing to a traditional show of musical cow bells, a quirky and impressive display that must be seen.

 

Up until day one of the 32nd America’s Cup the restaurant was known as a good place for quick sandwiches and cold beer to be enjoyed on a sprawling, umbrella covered patio. And all of this is still there, along with a variety of Spanish rice dishes, refreshing salads and plenty of other choices. The Defender is the first restaurant along the Veles e Vents Promenade, in the AC North Park and is open bright and early at 9 am until 1 am on weekdays, and 3 am on weekends.
