Endesa became an official sponsor of the 32nd America’s Cup at the end of 2003, in keeping with its policy of sponsoring major sporting events which are in some way connected to Spain. With this sponsorship, Endesa has sought to show its support and commitment to the Autonomous Region of Valencia, headquarters of this international competition.
Since the event began on the waters of Marseille and Valencia a number of activities have been held in different European cities as well as Valencia, and the America’s Cup has become one of the most relevant events in Europe on a sporting, social and cultural level. This has thus been an extremely positive association for Endesa.
Involvement in the America’s Cup has seen increased coverage for Endesa and its activities and for the city of Valencia itself, which has now become the focus of attention for the sporting world, building on its reputation as an industrial and services centre as well as a quality tourist destination.
Endesa, one of the largest electric utilities in the world is present in 15 countries on three continents. It is also the largest electricity company in Spain, an important operator in the Mediterranean basin which has driven us to sponsor the America’s Cup taking place in this region.
