The Region of Valencia is probably the most representative Mediterranean region. Along its coastline stretching over 400 kilometres, we can find tremendous enthusiasm for sailing, a legacy from its ancient sea-going tradition.

The Mediterranean’s influence spreads across its 23,500 km2, a landscape with vast coastal plains and mountains over 1,000 metres in height. The Region's excellent climate lets you enjoy the sea in conditions that are unbeatable anywhere in Europe, with mild temperatures ranging from a minimum of 13º to a maximum 29º, with more than 3,000 sunlight hours a year. Under these conditions, we can confidently say that the Region of Valencia's coast is one of the finest destinations in the world for water sports and related tourism.

Its privileged location on the Mediterranean Arc, with excellent land, sea and air connections, enabling products to be easily distributed, has consolidated the development of this region of almost five million inhabitants. It is presently one of Europe's regions in a continuous state of economic growth, combining industries from traditional manufacturing sectors with high-technology companies and multinationals who have chosen the Region of Valencia as their production centre. It is also the second biggest exporter among Spain's regions. It has a large number of reminders from a history forged over the millennia. From as far back as the rupestrian paintings in caves and on rocky walls, these lands have successively been influenced by Iberian, Roman, Visigothic and Muslim cultures, who all left their artistic mark in unique buildings in Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Art Nouveau styles. Constructions that stand in perfect harmony with the avant-garde architecture of the 21st century.

Its traditions and customs are characterized by light, gunpowder, music, fire… as key parts of nearly all its festivals. The Fallas, the Bonfires of San Juan, spectacular performances in the Moors and Christians festivals, religious festivals such as the Misteri d'Elx, pilgrimages in festivals of La Magdalena or in Les Useres, are examples of the celebrations that take place in a festive atmosphere, experienced in the streets, and where visitors are always warmly welcomed.

All of this is backed by a full agenda covering culture, food & drink and leisure, all over the territory, together with an extensive network of social and communications services and infrastructures of all kinds, making this Region one of the finest destinations to visit, to experience and, of course, to enjoy.
