On the shores of the Region of Valencia, Mediterranean culture and history comes to a focal point, a legacy stretching along its coastline of more than 400 kilometres, directly influencing Valencian society, and where we can find tremendous enthusiasm for sailing, a legacy from its ancient sea-going tradition.

With mild temperatures all year round, between 13º and 29º, and over 3,000 sunlight hours a year, its excellent climate lets you enjoy the sea in conditions that are unbeatable anywhere in Europe, and which let us confidently say that the Region of Valencia's coast is one of the finest destinations in the world for water sports and related tourism. The rest of the Region of Valencia's territory, over an area of almost 25,000 km2, is strongly influenced by the Mediterranean, covering a broad landscape with vast coastal plains and mountains over 1,000 metres in height.

These conditions make Valencia's tourist destinations a magnificent outdoor setting, with a large number of facilities for any kind of sport. Playing golf in an enviable climate the whole year round at any of the 21 courses, not including those under construction; a considerable offer in top-level sports facilities allowing all types of sports to be carried out in unbeatable conditions; exploring inland mountains and valleys in search of excitement and risk; flying at above 1,000 feet and getting a bird's-eye view of the Region of Valencia or diving to the sea-bed in beautiful marine reserves are just some examples of the range of activities for staying in shape and taking advantage of your leisure time.

One of the major tourist attractions that our Region offers, however, is probably our coastline, which allows for inshore sailing, water sports and other aquatic activities, anchoring at marinas and nautical clubs in conditions unrivalled anywhere in Europe and, more importantly, all year round. The coast offers the shelter and beauty of its small bays and ports so you can anchor under the best possible conditions. Also, the Valencian Regional Government is making a strong commitment to improving the offer in moorings all along the coast, so as to be able to nearly double the present number within a few years. All of the above respects protected areas, allowing the marine fauna and environment to be conserved, and not just the underwater environment but also beaches and cliffs, which are among the Valencian coast's biggest attractions.

All this creates a region with quality of life and excellence at all levels, letting you enjoy the best of the sea under the finst conditions, less than two hours from any European capital.
