RACE VILLAGE COMES ALIVE IN NAPLES AS MASSIVE SATURDAY AWAITS
The Official Race Village of Naples PR2 is filling up ahead of what is expected to be a massive day on the water – moving day for the sailors, a day to savour for the fans. The doors open to the public at 11am and all the initial action starts on the main stage at midday (CEST) with the pre-race show.
It’s free-to-enter and the crowds are coming in their tens of thousands eager to see the AC40 fly-bys accompanied by the team’s battle songs where always the biggest cheer is for home-favourites and current leaders of the regatta – Luna Rossa. Come down and cheer for your favourite.
Once the racing begins at just after 2pm – and today there are four races scheduled today – the large screens offer the perfect opportunity to catch the broadcast and hear the commentary. If you want the action live to your headphones, make sure to tune in to the America’s Cup Radio Station for the most up-to-date as-live experience direct from the racecourse.
Don’t miss out on the Megastore experience either. You can buy your favourite team’s merchandise and a whole host of America’s Cup fashion, accessories, and mementos that will forever remind you of your time in Naples at the finest regatta in the world. The Megastore gets busy at peak times and numbers have to be limited inside, so watch the queue and jump in when you can!
If you’re feeling hungry, the food court and stands all along the closed-to-traffic Via Federico Carraciolo, have a fine selection of gastronomic delights and beverages throughout the afternoon that cater to all tastes and budgets. And don’t forget to check out the huge variety of concessions dotted around the Race Village with activations for the young, a try-sailing initiative on the beach and sponsor promotions throughout. It’s well worth a stroll around.
After sailing, you can get closer than ever to the sailors and the teams who will take to the stage for the dock-in show – and if you’re near the front at the main stage, you might even be lucky enough to catch some of the free and exclusive team merchandise that the sailors always throw into the audience!
And if you like to party - the early evening has live DJs and performances from local artists that keep the vibe going through to closing time at 9pm. It's a jumping scene.
